Helen Brown Art

I am a British landscape painter, working from my studio located in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. I primarily work with oil paint on canvas creating original, atmospheric, impressionist and semi-abstract paintings of landscapes and seascapes. I love how the ever changing skies and cloudsapes create different light effects, colours and moods and I try to express not only the place, but how it felt being there in that moment, rather than making a true representation. I use brushes and palette knives, amongst other tools, for the bolder, impasto texture in my work.

I also enjoy experimenting with a variety of other mediums (e.g., acrylic and watercolour paints, inks, pastels and charcoal) in my sketchbooks or when painting outside. I don't really consider myself a plein air painter, but this is definitely something I wish to pursue in the future.

I do accept commissions, but please be aware of the extended drying times required for oil paint.
