Hi, this is me, Helen Brown, having my head blown off at Arbor Low in the cold January rain.
I’m going to be making a series of paintings from this magical place later in the year.
I am super excited to welcome you to my new website and Blog. So many wonderful new things are happening right now. I’m finally being brave enough to put myself and my painting out into the world. I have no idea where that will lead, but I would love you to come along with me for the ride.
Those of you who know me personally will know that I used to be a professional ceramic sculptor so I’m not a complete newbie to the art scene, but I’ve been away from it for a long time and much has changed.
Last time I set up I was fresh out of university with friends, cohorts and lecturers to help, advise and introduce me to contacts in the world of ceramics. Right now, I don’t even know anyone else who paints.
I knew I needed advice so I got an artist mentor. For anyone starting out or returning to practice, I would highly recommend getting a mentor, it’s such a help. Here’s the link if you are interested https://www.helenhallows.com.
With Helen's help, I am now busy working towards a couple of local shows.
They are:
Belper Arts Trail. Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd May. 10.30 am – 4.30pm.
Check it out here http://www.belperarts.org
I’ll be in room 15 in the Strutts building (opposite the Hospital).
Derbyshire Open Arts. Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May. 10 am – 5pm.
Check it out here https://derbyshireopenarts.co.uk
I will be showing my work at the Sudbury venue with a lovely bunch of talented creative makers.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped and encouraged me, it really means a lot.
Please try out the website and let me know if everything is working as it should and come and see me if you can. It would be great to see you.
