I'm Helen Brown and I am a British semi-abstract oil painter. I paint contemporary original oil paintings of landscapes, seascapes and atmospheric skies. I originally studied fine art in Wales, before venturing to Derbyshire to complete my degree. After several years in beautiful Derbyshire I have come full circle and returned home to Wales. However, today I divide my time between the vast peaks and rolling hills of Derbyshire and the wild, unspoiled coastlines of Swansea, Gower and Pembrokeshire, as both give me inspiration for my work.
Beneath ever-changing skies, I am drawn to the power of storms, the dance of light, the feeling of expansive atmospheric spaces, and the energy of wind and sea — a connection that echoes the Romantic painters who first sought to capture the sublime in nature.
My paintings invite you to pause, breathe, and open yourself to the atmosphere of wide skies: to connection, presence, wonder, and the quiet magic of the natural world. They bring the beauty, majesty and tranquillity of nature into any space.
